Education in Great Britain. Bournemouth Business School International - Legal Studies, European & Commercial Law - 24-week Higher Certificate Course


The Legal Studies, European and Commercial Law programmes are best suited to participants with a minimum Intermediate level of English on entry (IELTS 6.0 for the certificate; IELTS 5.5 for the higher certificate, diploma and foundation), who are seeking a professional skills programme specialising in English, and European and international commercial law. The courses are aimed at young professionals and students who are seeking a career or further study in law-related fields and require proficiency in English. Depending on the options selected by students, these courses lead to awards from BBSI and NCFE awards, and the City and Guilds (Vocational Key Skills Certificate).

A 24-week (2-term) higher certificate course (CLS 24) comprises 26 lessons weekly. Depending upon their language entry level and previous knowledge, students can follow one of 2 options:
Option 1 comprises Term 1 and 2 of the diploma course, ie English, business communication skills and European & international commercial law. The language entry level is IELTS 5.5.
Option 2 comprises Terms 2 and 3 of the diploma course, ie English language, and European & international commercial law. The language entry level is IELTS 6.0.
Option 1 includes BBSI and NCFE awards, and the City & Guilds Vocational Key Skills Certificate. Option 2 leads to additional NCFE certification.

-to prepare students for university degree courses related to law and legal studies fields
-to prepare students for the IELTS examination
-to prepare students for the optional ECDL qualification

Learning Outcomes
Students with good attendance and who complete all assignments can expect to achieve a minimum language level of IELTS 6.5/7.0. They will also be able to function effectively in English in a professional legal and business environment, and will have acquired a sound knowledge and understanding of international law, business law and legal systems procedures.
